A Special Message to 'All My Children' Fans from Rebecca Budig

From Beth Cochran, About.com GuideAugust 15, 2011

Rebecca Budig

I spoke with Rebecca Budig (Greenlee) recently about Josh Duhamel's brief return to All My Children, her feelings on Leo vs. Ryan, and the future of AMC and Greenlee. Stay tuned for more of that interview and some great photos of Rebecca as Greenlee through the years.

Rebecca especially wanted to send a personal message to all the loyal AMC fans out there. "I want the fans to know how much I appreciate them," says Rebecca. "I just never met a group of nicer, more supportive people. I want them to know how grateful I am that they've stayed with us for so long. Wherever I end up I know I will never have the fan base I had at All My Children. I love our fans. They're the best."

I love ALL MY CHILDREN and I hate seeing it end. I have watched AMC since it first started way back in 1970. I have seen all of them when they were very young. Erica, Tad, Brooke, Jenny and I have loved Greenlee since she first started playing on AMC. I cannot believe it will be no more. It has always been a part of me all these years. I love AMC and now that Greenlee and Ryan areback together the show goes off. I HATE IT that they are ending my favorite of all shows on TV.

I am beyond shock that ABC has canceled All My Children and One Life To Live. Only the soaps have had enough fans for them to last decades. It’s a shame that these stupid reality shows are taking over Television. It’s only a matter of time when people will grow tired of watching the antics of pregnant teens, spoiled housewives, oversexed singles,
etc. I will never ever watch whatever shows take the soaps places, especially that stupid “Chew” show. What we don’t need is another cooking show. I want to watch something I can get lost in and look forward to every day. I want fantasy not reality. I want to escape for an hour or two every afternoon into the pretend lives of my soap characters.

I will miss AMC so much. I am most interested in how they are going to finish David Hayward’s character. He has gotten away with far to much over the years. I hope he goes out with a big bang that son of a B! I would also like Cameron all to myself – yummy!

I feel the same way as your other writers. I cannot understand how terrific shows are cancelled and cooking shows come on. I have so many cooking recipes from my grandparents, aunts, uncles, and parents that they have taken over my recipe cupboard. I have found they are better than the ones shown on the Tv. Get the soaps back. They helped keep me going during the day.

I have watched “All My Children” for thirty two years. I like all the characters on my program but will get use to not seeing them just like I will get use to not watching ABC. It is a stupid idea to put a cooking program on especially “Chew” which looks idiotic. You are a disappointment to society. You should listen to the people.
