Guiding Light Recap: December 16, 2004

From MMWAP, for About.com

Bill brings Emma to The Beacon and he tells Olivia the he picked her up early from daycare to take her to see Santa.  Alan comes in and asks to see Emma. (new Emma now....she appears to be about 2).  Bill tells Alan that he's taking "my family to the mall." Alan asks Bill if he really wants to get in the middle of this battle.

Buzz tells Lillian that he's ready for his walking papers. Lillian gives Buzz grief, and Buzz says "it doesn't matter...my next stop is the gray bar hotel."  Lillian asks Buzz if he shot Philip. Buzz says that he didn't do it. Lillian tells him to stop worrying.

Billy meets his "guy" at the hospital and pays him off.  He asks him "what are you doing?! I told you to scare the man and not kill him!"  The guy takes the money and runs....Lillian finds Billy and says "Are you here to see Buzz?"

Gus meets with a man that he wants to hire for a security position at Spaulding.  The guy says that he was surprised to hear from him. Gus asks him "Do you have any idea where my aunt was the night that Philip was shot?" Alexandra comes in and asks "what's going on?"  Gus says that he's trying to conduct a job interview, Alex says that "this is a witch hunt and nothing more."  The guy gets angry and leaves. Gus tells Alex that she's going back to prison. Alex tells Gus "you think that you have this whole thing figured out." Gus says that he does have it all figured out and tells Alex things as he sees it. "You're trying to clear Buzz's name...or Harley." Alex tells Gus.

Ruth tells the police officer that he can't arrest her for her opinion.  The police man tells Ruth that he was listening to her conversation with Josh and it seemed like she was taking all the credit for shooting Philip. Then he pulls out a picture of Ruth and tells her that she is a suspect in the shooting. Ruth is surprised at what she sees.

Alan says that he wants to talk to Bill on a business level. Olivia says that she wants to hear what Alan has to say. Bill sends Olivia to change Emma and Alan says "I can see why you want to adopt Emma."  Bill asks Alan how he knows that. Alan tells Bill that "this is my town and there's very little that I don't know."  Alan tells Bill to think through the consequences of adopting Emma. "What happens when Olivia self destructs?"  Alan says that Olivia has left a trail of broken marriages behind her.

Lillian assures Buzz and Billy that Frank will find the person who did murder Philip.  Billy tells Buzz and Lillian that Philip was making enemies left and right. Lillian goes to see if Buzz's walking papers are ready. Billy says "What if someone just wanted to scare Philip and not kill him?" Buzz asks Billy if he knows something that can clear him.

The officer calls Frank and says that he has Ruth Karloff and he's bringing her in.  Ruth acts like she is totally sick from drinking and she tells the officer that she needs to go to the bathroom immediately.  The officer tries to get Ruth out of the bar, but she's falling over and can hardly stand up. Ruth tells the officer to take the handcuffs off of her so that she can go into the bathroom. Ruth goes into the bathroom and looks into the mirror: "Now what?"

Gus tells Alex that all she ever did was lie to him. "Why should I believe you now?" Alex says that she didn't kill Philip.  Alex says "I did not kill Philip and Buzz did not kill Philip." She tells Gus that she's told him enough to keep Buzz out of prison.

The officer knocks on the bathroom door and yells for Ruth "You've had enough time!" Harley comes running out of the bathroom--"Oh My God! Some crazy lady just climbed out the bathroom window!" The officer becomes upset and he checks the bathroom and asks Harley which way she went.  The office runs outside of the bar to search for Ruth.
