Censor's Passions Commentary - December 28, 2004

From Censor

Hey guys, I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, Hanukkah or Kwanzaa or whatever holiday y'all choose to celebrate.. things were wonderful in my household.. and the show has gotten even more interesting.  So, grab your favorite beverage and let's get right to it.  That said, to those who who are anticipating the Best/Worst column-- it will be up this weekend.. I decided to hold off until the actual New Year weekend to post it, and with the show picking up such dramatic pace-- I've decided to post 2 columns next week.  One column for the Best/Worst this coming weekend, and the normal commentary up on next Tuesday as usual.  Let's dig in, all!!

RAVES-- TC and Eve's divorce is final. YIPPEEE!!!!  Who's excited?  That would be me!  I can't believe that JER actually managed to finalize the divorce in a single day.  That said-- WHY in the world would Chad be sitting on TC's side?  This was a ridiculous plot point-- I mean, I *know* that he went to sit next to Whitney and "be there for her" (gag me-- I wonder if Chad will be so supportive when he finds out that Whitney tried to rob him of his own child!), but the simple idea that Chad would show a single shred of support for TC-- is preposterous!  TC did nothing but treat Chad like a punching bag and yell insults at him for 4 years.  Now that Chad is supposedly Whit's 1/2 brother-- all of a sudden, TC has sympathy for him?  No matter who his parents were, Chad is still technically a "gutterpunk street kid."

RAVES-- Rebecca, Tabitha and Edna.  I KNOW!!  I can't believe I wrote a RAVE next to Rebecca's name-- but this week's scenes were hilarious!!  Norma's back and Tabby has some "pals" around to witness the mayhem.  The dialogue was witty as hizell, and it was just funny watching Rebecca and Edna share the liquor.  This was writing at its best.  I've never laughed so hard!!

GRAVES-- Tabitha.  Norma's back?  Is this all the writers can come up with?  To bring Norma back, AGAIN!?!?!?!  Such a ridiculous waste of time and effort.  Juliet Mills has wonderful skill and talent, and the writers have been wasting her ever since Josh died.  I know that Timmy's death was a tragedy, and I miss Timmy every single day-- but why did they have to assassinate Tabitha's character as well?  They showed such comedic promise with her lines with Rebecca and Edna-- why doesn't Passions start a "First Wives Club" or something with the "Grande dames" of Passions?

GRAVES-- Beth, SHUIS and KaMart.  What is this chick smoking?  She needs to get a refund, cuz someone is spiking her wacky tobacky.  Would someone please explain to me why SHUIS finding out that Katherine is Sheridan's mother would ruin their relationship?  Postpone the wedding, yes.  Add a little much deserved spice to the SHUIS hum-drum relationship, yes.  But break them up for good??  Beth is seriously on CRACK!!  Yes, in the beginning-- Luis would be angry, but so would Sheridan.. because no matter what cockamamie story that KaMart have to tell about their disappearances, Sheridan still suffered greatly at Alistair's hands-- and the writers would do well to lay some of that blame at Kat's feet WHERE IT BELONGS!  So Alistair was abusive-- I didn't really see scratches on Kat, I'm not excusing the rape-- but it appears that Kat was revered as a saint while people still believed her to be alive-- I'm pretty sure SOMEONE would have helped her get out.  And there is still absolutely NO explanation for why Marty abandoned his family.  Someone PLEASE tell me WHY Marty left his family behind because of Alistair's death threats?  How in the world would any man with two brain cells that functioned HONESTLY believe that the man who wished him dead would "leave his family to live in peace and harmony" once he was gone.  That makes absolutely no sense.

GRAVES-- Eve. "Pretty woman.. walking down the street, Pretty woman.. the kind who'd walk a beat, Pretty woman.. Won't you steal some cash? Pretty woman, just make a dash.. Ohh.. woah.. Pretty woman." What in the world? Julian is gonna make Eve's life better by taking her shopping? Are they joking? And why in the world is Eve acting like she is broken up by the breakup of her marriage? She tried all of TWO times to salvage it. And why would she even try to salvage a marriage with TC? Is she joking? That man wasn't worth the Prozac he needed to take for his anger management. Why doesn't Eve just show that she is happy with Julian and that she is going to finally have a man who will treat her like a woman, and not like a bank account and a whipping bag? At least this way, Eve can spend some of someone else's money-- cuz we know that TC hasn't made a dime in at least 2 years.
