Censor's Passions Commentary - Aug 24, 2004

From Censor

Sorry I'm late this week-- lost track of the days without my favorite show on television.. I am really missing the show-- it's hard.. but I've saved the last eppy on my TIVO so that I can watch it again the day before the show begins-- so that I can get a nice recap and get back into the show.

Well, since there's no show this week-- I've decided to do a variation on the column and do the top 5 character assassinations on the show. We all know that Passions has a tendency to "rewrite" history, and when they do-- it tends to ruin perfectly good and loved or even hated characters. So-- here we go.. I know the board is kinda dead this week.. but hopefully this will get read-- let me know what y'all think :)

Number 5-- Whitney Russell. I used to love Whitney. She was the perfect antithesis to Theresa. Someone to keep the great dreamer "grounded", even when Theresa was flying off in the clouds of "fate". The ruination of Whitney began when she and Chad began their relationship, and Miss Thang ordered Chad to not only lie about their relationship-- but told him to act as her sister's boyfriend so that "Simone's heart would not be broken." How freakin' ridiculous was this? Whitney has made her own bed in her troubles with Simone, and the fact remains-- she has never taken responsibility for those actions. Whitney accuses her mother of lying about her past and how it "hurt them".. well, Psychotney over there has NO room to talk. The fact remains that Whitney sent her sister down a horrible spiral with her betrayal with Chad-- and now Simone has every right to be angry with her. Simone, rightfully so, believes that Whitney "stole" her boyfriend. It can be hard to see that, because we were all rooting for Chadney to get together-- but the fact remains that Whitney was the chief architect in Simone's pain-- and now Whitney is feeling pain in her own life, and I hate to say it-- but paybacks are a witch with a B, ya know? What you put out into the world is what you get back. I didn't mention her recent shenanigans where she has become the "slapper".. but the fact remains that the downfall began with the deceit to Simone-- and she is on a roller coaster now.. (well-- at least at the beginning where you take THE BIG FALL.)

Number 4-- Hank Russell. Well, since Hank is now officially gone from the show (until JER decides to recast), this may be a moot point. But the fact remains that Hank had a very shady past. He had HUGE potential the first year of the show.. and they just completely *forgot* that. They left his past with the FBI in the, well-- past. They never fully explored it. When Ryan took over for Dalton-- they just changed him to a character that closely resembles wallpaper. Now-- it is VERY BEAUTIFUL wallpaper, but it would have been great to see where that whole situation would have gone. But alas-- we had Hank just accept that Luis moved in on his lady love, Sheridan-- and never explored the pain that Hank would have felt at the loss of Sheridan to his best friend. Especially considering that Hank had lost women to Luis before when they were in school-- but instead-- we get Hank applying to be the "Jr. Sam" so that they could have ANOTHER police officer on the show act like a complete idiot
