Hey guys, I'm *so* sorry that I'm late this week. I know I had promised to have the column up on Sunday this week. But having not written the column for so long, I found it hard to get started again. I figure there's no other way to do it other than to just dive in, so here goes nothing!!
RAVES-- Precious leaving!! These were actually pretty great scenes with Edna and Precious! I found myself actually laughing out loud at some of their crazy antics. That said, I could not be MORE thrilled that the monkey is finally gonna be gone. Precious was a ridiculous plot point by the writers, in some pathetic attempt to recapture the "campiness" that the show once had. The writers need to realize that with their "rewrites-a-million", they changed the vibe of the show, and need to pay heed to that.
RAVES-- Edna. Edna has a flash of Alistair? Okay, for those who know me well, I said, OVER A YEAR AND A HALF AGO that Beth *had* to be a Crane. Now, Edna is remembering Alistair's face? Who's gonna go against me on a bet when I say that Beth will ultimately be REVEALED as Sheridan's sister? Edna has long maintained that she had no idea who Beth's father was, only that Beth was conceived in a drunken, drugged stage of her life. This would make total sense, and *might* actually serve to give Beth a storyline other than "I have to kill Sheridan."
GRAVES-- Beth. The mere thought that Beth might be Alistair's daughter sends chills down my spine. If Beth is revealed as a Crane, I don't know if I can keep watching the show. We already saw Alistair kiss Beth on one occasion when he was dressed as Charlie. We also saw Alistair try to jump all over Beth in his office. This is nasty. Chad and Whitney was bad enough to see as JER played the "incest is the new storyline for daytime tv" ploy.. but between a father and his daughter?? EWWW.
RAVES-- Theresa. I loved seeing Theresa admit that she has done some shady things in the past when it came to trying to hide her mistakes. Her scenes with Whitney actually reminded me how close these two were. It's been a long time since we saw Whitney and Theresa spend any "friend" time together. That said, Theresa should start remembering that she thinks of Chad as a friend, too. By keeping Whitney's secret, and allowing the scene to be set where Whitney gives the kid up for adoption-- she is hurting people the same way she always did. I love Theresa, but I really think that she needs to spill the beans to Chad, even if it means cutting ties with Whitney. That said, I feel sad as I come to the conclusion that the situation with Whitney may also spell NO REUNION for TheRox. How would Fox ever be able to get over the fact that Theresa *knew* he wasn't the father, but never told him? Theresa going along with Whitney may ultimately cost her more than she realizes.
RAVES-- Eve. I can't believe that I just wrote that-- but I absolutely *loved* her scenes with Whitney this week after Whitney gave birth. Telling Whitney that she needed to grow up and start acting her age and not her shoe size (I paraphrase, but you get the idea) was *exactly* what she needed to do. Of course, we all know that Twitney is ultimately going to give this child up, and there is nothing that mama Eve can do to stop her.
GRAVES-- Luis, Sheridan and Beth. I'm sorry, as much as I love seeing Sheridan reunited with Marty (he *is* her son, after all), this has to be the most mentally Unhealthy thing that Luis has ever come up with. He believes that somehow spending time with Marty will help Sheridan come back from the brink. And that has *got* to be the most absurd thing I've ever heard. Sheridan needs to see a verifiable shrink, someone who is untouched by Alistair. She needs to deal with her issues that she has built up over the years, NOT spend time with an infant that everyone believes to NOT be hers. This is a one-way ticket back to the psych ward and the electroshock treatments. Luis should know better. Aren't police officers trained in "people skills" and "basic psychology skills"? Apparently not.
