From Censor, for About.com

Best part of the week-- Eve and Whitney's embrace on the wharf. It was total *Kleenex time* in my house. Job well done, Tracey and Brook!

Worst part of the week-- Having to watch Alistair in bed with a girl who could double as his great-granddaughter. NASTY!! Alistair is ripping into Kat for not honoring their vows while that little trollop was wrapped up in Alistair's sheets. NASTY! I don't need to see old men in love scenes-- it's just not necessary.

And now-- for my RANT OF THE WEEK-- and it goes to the Passions writers. How dare YOU disgrace the integrity of the AMBER ALERT!

For those of you unfamiliar with my geographic location-- I live in Arlington, TX. THE city where Amber Hagerman was abducted in 1996. Amber Hagerman was a 9 year old girl who was kidnapped from a local grocery store (less than 5 miles from my house) in broad daylight while riding on her bike. Several people reported seeing her pulled into a Chevy pickup truck, and unfortunately-- she was never found. Not alive, anyway. Police found her body 4 days later. And our city was DEVASTATED. Crimes against children are the WORST OF THE WORST. And the Hagerman family did not want to have to see anyone else go through their pain. They wanted to have something "good" come from their daughter's death.. and her family pushed through one of the greatest missing children programs that has ever come to pass. The AMBER Alert system is being implemented in states across the country-- but it originated here. And while I can't speak educatedly about how successful the system is in other cities-- but here in the metroplex (Dallas/Ft. Worth) where I live-- ever since the AMBER Alert plan has been in place-- we have NEVER not found a missing child since the plan was implemented. They have all been recovered-- ALIVE. The AMBER Alert plan WORKS.

And to see Passions NOT show an accurate portrayal of the system was UNACCEPTABLE. I don't give a witches butt about how they have journalistic license-- it is BULL CRIZZAP! When Gwen was in the store, and the alert came on about a missing child-- but with ABSOLUTELY NO SPECIFICS.. this is NOT how the AMBER Alert plan works. Of course-- in typical television style-- the "FULL" alert, complete with description of Gwen and the car and what the baby was wearing, came on AFTER Gwen had left the store, but they had been playing "mini-alerts" while she was shopping. Allow me to educate the Passions staff-- when an Amber alert is issued-- the official statements are ALWAYS the same. They repeat the EXACT SAME INFORMATION every single time. The people who issued the AMBER alert would have known that Gwen was suspected when they issued it, because we saw Sam tell the police Gwen's name. This information would have been issued immediately-- they would have NEVER left her name off the broadcast. And it is a disservice to the wonderful record that the AMBER Alert has achieved. If NBC was not going to portray the AMBER Alert system correctly-- then they should have not used the AMBER Alert name. It is disgraceful, and NBC and Passions should be ashamed. There is no excuse for this at all. I don't care if it is a fictional television show. So is Law and Order and CSI-- and they pay attention to those details. They pay attention because the AMBER Alert is a real system-- and it would be wrong for them to not accurately portray it. SHAME, Passions-- SHAME!
