Tempers begin to flare again between Brooke and Taylor when Nick decided to let Taylor have baby Jack for the night. Brooke considered Taylor unstable enough to seek help from Storm in gaining custody of "her" son. Phoebe made all attempts to find out if Ashley was still interested in Rick, but when Ashley told her that their relationship was over for good, Phoebe took the initiative deciding that she wanted to get back with Rick. Rick made his intentions known as to how he felt about Taylor in the presence of his mother, Ridge and Taylor sending everyone into a panic about what it could do to Phoebe. Katie tried to get Nick to break up with Bridget because she could see that his feelings for her were not as deep as the ones Bridget had for Nick. In an unexpected moment, Katie kissed Nick which brought on a lot of surprising feelings for the two of them. After firing Storm, Ridge took it upon himself to save anyone who had anything to do with Storm, especially Ashley who he was out to protect at all costs.
