Our prayers have been answered kids! Well, sort of. It looks like All My Children and
One Life to Live will continue... online. ABC has sold the online rights to AMC and OLTL to Prospect Park, an entertainment management and production company with music, film and television divisions. The deal, led by Prospect Park's Jeff Kwatinetz and Rich Frank, will allow the company to air the soaps on its new, yet-to-be-named Hulu-type online TV network.
"We are privileged to continue the legacy of two of the greatest programs to air on daytime television, and are committed to delivering the storylines, characters and quality that audiences have come to love for over 40 years. All My Children and One Life to Live are television icons, and we are looking forward to providing anytime, anywhere viewing to their loyal community of millions," Frank and Kwatinetz said in a statement. "We believe that by continuing to produce the shows in their current hour format and with the same quality, viewers will follow the show to our new, online network."
Jeff Kwatinetz and Rich Frank are currently producers on the USA show Royal Pains. Kwatinetz is also the founder of an entertainment management company that managed Kelly Clarkson, Britney Spears, and Jennifer Lopez. He was also an executive producer on the Denzel Washington film Unstoppable. Rich Frank is a former chairman of Walt Disney Television and Telecommunications and was president of Walt Disney Studios. Let's hope with those credentials, Kwatinetz and Frank will do our soaps justice.
So what do you think gang? Will you watch AMC and OLTL in a non-traditional format online? I really want to hear your thoughts on this one.
