Dig into the history of Salem and Days of Our Lives with this gem of a book. Not only can you relive history of the show, but you can dig into some juicy backstage stories that are sure to get tongues wagging.

Sample Trivia:

Had it been up to Deidre Hall, the show never would have hired Wayne Northrop as Roman Brady. Although he turned out to be one of her most popular leading men, after Hall screen-tested with Northrop, she found "absolutely no chemistry" between them. Executive producer Al Rabin, on the other hand, saw a spark between them that could grow into something more. In time, Hall and the audience recognized it as well.

> Catherine Mary Steward, who originated the role of Kayla Brady, had a clause written into her contract allowing her time off to pursue outside projects, such as primetime and feature film work. After the third time she exercised that clause, the producers decided to let her go.

Doug Williams and Julie Olson were married in the same church where their portrayers, Bill Hayes and Susan Seaforth, had tied the know just two years earlier. Instead of hiring an actor to portray the minister, the show hired the same minister who had married the Hayeses. The Hayeses also repeated some of the same vows they had recited during their real-life wedding.

June 25, 1999 lights went out in Bay City for the last time. Soon after this, detailed trivia tome was released. One last hurrah for fans of this classy and classic soap opera. One last opportunity to delve into all that made this show unique and wonderful.

Sample Trivia:

> Anne Heche (Vicky and Marley Hudson) was approached about working on the soaps after a talent scout from Proctor & Gamble spotted her in a high school play. She turned down a role written specifically for her on As the World Turns because her brother and father had recently died and she didn't want to leave her mother behind. Years later, after moving to New York she showed up for the Vicky audition wearing jeans, while the other actresses wore high heels and makeup. Heche believes that her interview, more than the audition , helped convince John Whitesell to cast her as Vicky and Marley. She answered a pair of questions in such different ways that he must have detected a dual personality inside her.

> For one month in between Robert Kelker-Kelly and Danny Markel, Thomas Gibson played the role of Sam Fowler. Primetime TV fans now know him as one half of the titular sitcom couple Dharma and Greg.

One George Reinhold fan literally collapsed after hearing that Steve Frame had been killed in a helicopter crash.
