"Maybe this could be a "set-up" by the FBI and everyone is in on it except Luis (so that it looks realistic). Maybe this was the FBI's way of getting the drug cartel off Sheridan's back so that they will go back to smuggling their narcotics and they can catch them in action. Everyone from the FBI, to Hank, to Sheridan, to Sam, and Eve, and even the paramedics are in on it. The "blood" could be fake and the "no pulse" could be part of the plan to make it even more realistic to Luis."

November 9, 2000 marked the day of the shot heard 'round Harmony. Hank Bennett pulled a gun and shot Sheridan Crane while looking into her eyes. As she fell he shot her again in the back. As she pleaded for his help to save her life, he looked on. As the life ebbed from her body, he left the cottage feeling remorse for what he'd done, yet doing nothing to save his dying victim. Why? Because the drug cartel had threatened to expose his past to his brother, the chief of police. That threat was enough to force Hank into turning a gun on a woman he once called a friend, and a woman he could have loved if she had given him a second look.

On to the scene arrives Luis Lopez-Fitzgerald. He had been on his way to Washington to wrap up the case that had kept him guarding Sheridan Crane for months. Feeling that something wasn't right, he turned around, arriving at Sheridan's cottage soon after Hank had left for the docks. He held the dead woman in his arms trying desperately to give her life. The FBI agent accompanying Luis had the unfortunate task of telling him she was dead. The paramedics arrived and also tried to revive her finally giving Luis the same news there was nothing they could do. Eve Russell, doctor extraordinaire, arrives in her duties as medical examiner. She also has the same news to break to Luis...Sheridan is dead. The distraught man refuses to believe there is nothing to be done that would save the life of the woman he loves.

Passions fans everywhere join Luis in the belief that there is no way that Sheridan can be dead. If she is, they insist it's a setup to fool the drug cartel and that she'll be revealed to still be alive. However, many concede that if she is dead, the magic in Harmony will be instrumental for bringing her back to life. They insist that if one of the two scenarios are not what happens, they'll stop viewing Passions in protest. Some have even gone so far to sign a petition to bring Sheridan back.
