Soap Fans Guide to the Big Apple
Favorite New York City haunts of the stars.

Daytime's denizens name their favorite places to see - and be seen - in the Big Apple. Here are a few reasons why soap stars love New York....

Colleen Zenk Pinter's (Barbara, As The World Turns) favorite dress-down restaurant is Cafe Un Deux Trois. "It is a great place pre-theater, for lunch, with a date or with the family. We've taken the kids there a lot."

To catch a taping of Live with Regis and Kelly, featuring daytime's own Kelly Ripa (Hayley, All My Children), take a chance on the standby line, which forms as early as 7 a.m. Monday through Friday at the corner of W. 67th St. & Columbus Ave.

When West Coaster David Lago (Raul, The Young and the Restless) does New York, visiting Mars 2112 is on his to-do list. "To get to the restaurant you have to take a UFO ride to Mars - like Disneyland's Star Tours, where the chairs move in front of a screen. Then, the other door opens to all this smoke. You get to the restaurant and it's all done up: aliens, a bar, an arcade. There are bright red lights and rock caves, and the floor's all metal. It looks like a big space station."

1633 Broadway (at 51st St.)

BROOKLYN Former co-stars and real-life couple Todd Rotondi and Guenia Lemos (ex-Bryant Montgomery and ex-Ruby Frank, ATWT) have a store called Many Colors One Love. Their inventory includes one-of-a-kind, handmade soaps, candles, jewelry and clothing. According to their Web site, they selected the store's name because "There is an underlying message of love in everything we do."

Jonathan Bennett (JR, AMC) reports that De La Guarda is "the best show I've ever seen. It defies every law of gravity and sanity that we know."

Julia Barr (Brooke, AMC): "For any event that requires celebration, I recommend The Four Seasons. Architecturally, it's gorgeous. It has a huge ceiling, there's a rectangular blue wading pool in the middle of the room, and beautiful mesh blinds that move just slightly, continually from floor to ceiling. It's magnificent."
