Chad lashes out at Whitney for putting her baby up for adoption. An emotional Whitney defends herself to Chad and an astonished Ethan. Looking at the adoption papers, Ethan notes that Fox needs to come back within the 72-hour grace period if he hopes to contest the adoption. Privately recalling Alistair's ominous phone call, Ethan worries Fox may not be able to come back at all.

Alistair informs Katherine that Martin has reunited with Pilar and his family. Alistair pulls his unwillingly wife into a rough kiss. When a disinterested Fox refuses to help, Gwen rushes to Katherine's aid, but Alistair knocks her to the floor. After ordering Katherine to wait in her bedroom, Alistair tortures Gwen both physically and emotionally.

Luis tells his father that if he truly wants to help bring Alistair down, Martin needs to reveal the horrible secret he shares with the evil Crane patriarch. To Luis' frustration, Martin insists the truth will only cause more pain.

Having been sent by Alistair, Beth arrives on Sheridan's doorstep and angrily demands she return Marty to her. Beth rails at a flustered Sheridan for allowing Marty to be kidnapped, calling her a "stupid blonde." The phrase triggers a memory in Sheridan, who envisions Beth as the clown who kidnapped her.
