Passions 12/22/99
Sitting in the limousine Julian sees Martin walk by. He rushes out of the car and calls for Martin to stop! He catches up with him and grabs him by the collar and flips him around. It’s not Martin! The man walks away and Ivy approaches Julian. She asks him if that was Martin.
Ivy expresses concern for Charity and then begs Grace to attend her party tonight as scheduled. Grace tries to get out of it by saying that with Sam investigating the accident they’d not be able to attend.
T.C. and Sam question the Santa on the street. He denies doing anything to hurt anyone but he can’t remember where he was when the accident happened. He does tell them that there was a weird little elf and about the hot toddies. Sam believes there is no way he could be the mastermind and sends him downtown to sleep off his drunk. T.C. reminds Sam that now they have no excuse to miss Ivy’s party. Neither is happy about this idea.
Grace and Eve watch the policeman take Santa away and he tells them that Sam broke the case. Ivy is thrilled and insists they attend the party.
T.C. tells Sam that Ivy wants Sam at the party…he wants to know why. Sam explains his situation with Ivy. How they met at the beach one summer many years ago. He was a lifeguard and he fell head over heels for her. They had to keep it secret because of her standing in the world and he was nothing. Then she married Julian. T.C. asks if she’s never gotten over him. Sam says it doesn’t matter he doesn’t want anything to do with Ivy Crane ever again.
Grace approaches just then and asks Sam what he means. He gets out of it by saying he doesn’t want to go to the party. Grace tries to make it sound like the party will be fun.
Miguel and Charity try to revive Tabitha while Timmy hides from them worried that they’re ghosts. Tabby comes around and keeps repeating “you’re dead, you two are dead.” The kids want to know how she would know that since she wasn’t there. Tabitha recovers by saying she said it on the radio and was devastated. Miguel explains that the fact that they moved saved their lives. Tabitha is not happy over her plans being spoiled yet again.
Charity explains that they came over to bring Tabitha a wreath they had hung on her door. She notices that Tabitha has no Christmas decorations around the house. Tabitha makes a lame excuse about her age and hustles them out of the house. Outside of the house Charity tells Miguel there’s something she wants to do for Tabitha.
Timmy comes to Tabitha towing a chart with a score of Charity 5 – Tabitha 0. Tabby grabs it and tears it up. She hears a noise and runs to the basement door. She sees the red “evil” light and is worried that she’ll not get her powers back because “they” are angry about the wreath on the front door. She vows to do better and leaves. Timmy stays behind and asks “them” what harm could one little tree do. The light flares up and Timmy backs away quickly saying he was just joking and bah humbug.
At Grace’s store Kay is not thrilled to be working on Christmas Eve. Simone thinks it’s fun watching the last minute shoppers. Reese is put in charge of gift wrapping while Jessica helps the customers. Kay tells Simone that she’s been saving up to buy a pair of black strappy high heel shoes to go with her new shirt. She’s sure to knock Miguel’s socks off. Reese calls her over and tells her that he wants to use glitter on the packages. She tells him to go ahead and he opens the bottle spilling glitter all over Kay and her new shirt. Just then Miguel and Charity enter the store.
Charity tells everyone that she thinks they should go decorate Tabitha’s house for her since it is so drab. She thinks the decorations at the store would work well only she has no money. Jessica suggests they should use Kay’s money. Reese and Miguel chip in the money they have and then Miguel guilts Kay into giving her money to the pot as well. Reese is looking out the window and sees Tabitha walking down the street. The kids go to work buying ornaments.
Tabitha decides she’s going to do something nasty to brighten her day. She sees a blind woman collecting for a charity she goes over to her and sticks her hand in the pot to grab the money out. Only problem is her hand gets stuck and she ends up having to steal the pot and it’s stand. People on the street start to chase her and call out “Stop Thief!” Tabitha escapes detection and finally gets her hand out of the pot. She steals the money and throws everything else aside.
Back at her house Timmy is settling down to watch “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” (Side note: Josh Ryan Evans (Timmy) has a role in the upcoming screen adaptation of this movie with Jim Carrey.) He hears the door open and hides under the table.
The kids enter the house and start to decorate it. They give the family room a very festive look. Charity has a flashback to happier days and helping her mother decorate their tree. Kay glances toward the basement door and sees the “evil” light under the door. Miguel thinks it may be a warning light and thinks he’s going to check it out.
Tabitha enters the house and thinks she’s made a mistake and is in the wrong house. Timmy tells her it’s no mistake, it was “them” and points to the hall by the basement. Timmy tells her that Miguel, Kay, Charity and everyone are there in the house and saw the light. Tabitha hears them slamming into the basement door. She realizes they’re trying to break down the door. She grabs Timmy and rushes him out of the house before all “hell” can break loose.
Luis watches Sheridan and Hank kiss under the mistletoe. He does not look happy. Pilar says Sheridan might be the woman for Hank. Luis disagrees and when Pilar asks if it’s because he dislikes her so much, he explains to Pilar that he was wrong about Sheridan. He tells her that Sheridan didn’t throw the compact into the trash. Pilar asks him if he can change his mind about Sheridan how come he can’t do the same about his father. He shuts her down and refuses to even think about it.
Across town Martin goes into the Book Café in order to get warm. Soon after he sits down Hank and Sheridan enter. Luis enters from another room and runs into Sheridan. He tells her he was there to get a cup of coffee. She hollers to Hank to get a cup for Luis. Martin looks up at the sound of Luis’ name. Sheridan and Luis are staring at each other with weird smiles on their faces. Hank comes up and asks them if they have something going on that he should know about? Luis says he has to go and Sheridan immediately jumps in and says he doesn’t have to go. She tells Hank to keep him here. Luis agrees and they sit down at a table. Luis needs sugar and turns to the table behind and asks Martin to give him some sugar.
At the mansion Ivy and Julian welcome their guests into the library. T.C. fingers Julian’s tennis trophies. Grace is shocked when she sees that Ivy has a very rare bible in her possession. Just then the phone rings and it’s Alistair. He doesn’t want to speak with Julian or Ivy but asks instead for the Russells and the Bennetts.
