Passions 12/21/99
Tabitha and Timmy watch from the bushes in anticipation of Charity and Miguel’s deaths as the lighting countdown begins.
Charity and Miguel stand under the tree and prepare to flip the switch.
Ivy and Julian watch the festivities. Ivy wonders what would happen if Martin ever returned to Harmony. Julian says that Martin Fitzgerald will never set foot in Harmony again.
Luis is shocked that Sheridan still has her compact. He tells her that he knew she threw it away. She tells him she would never throw away such a thoughtful gift. He takes her off to the side so they can talk.
Martin lurks nearby watching Luis and Sheridan talk as they start to head his way he hurries to disappear, in the process he trips and falls flat on the walkway. Sheridan and Luis rush over to offer their aid. Martin tries to keep his face hidden and his voice disguised. As they try to free Martin Sheridan explains what happened with the compact. She tells Luis she’s hurt that he could think that of her. Luis blames his mindset on everything that’s been happening with his father. They free Martin and he gets up with his back to them and starts to walk away. Luis asks him if he isn’t going to turn around and say thank you. Luis starts to demand that he turn around. Just then Hank comes running…
Grace and Sam discuss their missing son Noah…Sam mentions that he’ll be back from his ski trip before she knows it.
Just as the countdown reaches the end, Charity stops the ceremony. She wants to thank everyone in Harmony for being so wonderful and helping to make her so welcome. She goes down a public list of thank yous. Miguel chimes in and basically makes his own public declaration of love for Charity.
Tabitha decides to speed up the process and urges Charity and Miguel to flip the switch. The countdown starts again at 10 as the crowd chants 10-9-8-7…
Back at Tabitha’s house Santa wakes up from the drugs Tabby had put in his hot toddy. He gets up and grabs a bottle of rum to “take the chill off.”
Hank talks to Pilar and asks if she thinks he has a chance with Sheridan. Pilar is interested to know that Hank is interested in her. She wishes him luck.
Ethan urges Theresa to show them who her boyfriend is. Gwen chimes as well. Theresa gives a story about being worried that the boy she likes will not want to be singled out. Gwen eggs her on and demands that Theresa prove to her that she’s not in love with Ethan. (The countdown continues) She points…
Just then the countdown reaches 1 and Charity pulls her hand back. She’s gotten a chill and Miguel suggests they switch places. Once they’ve switched they pull the switch and are electrocuted by the wiring job Timmy did. The tree bursts into flames, panic erupts all around as everyone is screaming and watching Charity and Miguel fall to the ground. Kay shouts and moans “Charity and Miguel are dead.”
Timmy is upset and tells Tabitha that he’s going home. She follows and when they arrive home they run into Santa. He’s still upset that Timmy called him a princess. Tabby urges him to sit down and have another drink. Timmy tells him that the show went on as usual without him. Santa is furious that he was impersonated. He goes to call the cops on Tabitha.
Meanwhile back at the park things are in bedlam as Eve rushes to the aid of Charity and Miguel. Family members and other attendees are crying. Eve orders Grace to go call and ambulance. Pilar prays.
Hank tells Luis what happened and all three run back to the accident site.
Julian urges Eve to go home with him. There’s nothing they can do at the site and he could give a rats butt if anything happened to the kids. He does want the Bennett and Lopez-Fitzgerald families to sign a waver.
He leaves and the kids eyes open, they stand up and seem to be fine. Seems the rubber mat that they were standing on absorbed most of the jolt.
T.C. tells Sam that wires were frayed in the control box. Theresa says she was the last one there…when she showed them to Santa. Sam decides they need to find Santa in order to find out what happened.
Tabitha convinces Santa not to call the cops. She comes on to him. Santa suggests that she get rid of the elf and he’ll come back later. Timmy reminds Tabitha about the police and the fact that they’ll be looking for Santa. Tabitha offers to give Santa one last hot toddy before he leaves. She adds a memory-erasing herb. She tells him to stay put and goes upstairs to change. After she leaves the room, Santa remembers he’s late for another gig and takes off before finishing his drink. The herbs might not work.
Sam questions Theresa about the Santa. She tells him what she knows. Sam and Luis start their Santa search.
Gwen tells Theresa she’s happy Miguel is all right, but she still wants to meet the man Theresa has a crush on. Ethan says they ought to just forget the whole thing.
Hank asks Sheridan to join him at his special place. He takes her into the town and she asks him what’s so special? He tells her “this” and starts to passionately kiss her.
Sam and T.C. find the Santa that was supposed to be at the lighting ceremony. He’s about two sheets to the wind. They ask him who was the Santa at the lighting ceremony. Sam sits him down and tells him he wants Santa to tell all that he knows.
Miguel and Charity decide not to go the concert. Charity has another idea. She picks up a wreath. Later at Tabitha’s house Tabby answers her door expecting to see Santa back for their date. When she sees Miguel and Charity standing on her stoop she faints dead away.
