Passions 12/14/99

At the Lopez-Fitzgerald house Theresa gushes to Whitney about Ethan liking her eyes. Whitney, ever the soul of discretion, tries to bring Theresa back down to earth. Theresa continues to gush. The doorbell rings and Theresa answers it. It’s Ivy, she’s there to have Theresa do some work for her. She’s having a dinner party tomorrow night and needs her to pick up the stationary for the invitations and get them made out. Then she needs help with the rest of the party. Theresa is ecstatic and rushes out of the house to do Ivy’s bidding.

Pilar warns Ivy that having Sam on the guest list for the dinner party is pure trouble. What if Julian discovers the truth about Ivy and Sam? Pilar begs Ivy not to destroy Sam’s happiness with Grace. Ivy takes this to mean that Pilar is worried about Sam still being in love Ivy. Pilar tells Ivy she’s playing with Pandora’s box and she could regret it for the rest of her life.

Gwen sits in her office holding a conversation with a photo of Ethan. She then gets up and dumps it into the garbage. She decides to pull it out as Ethan watches from the doorway. He takes this as a sign that she still loves him. He tells her he knows she can’t hate him. She gets nasty with him again and they re-ignite their argument. Ethan tells her she should have become a lawyer she’s so good at arguing. He tells her she has no reason to be mad at Theresa…everything was his fault. Gwen tells him that she loves him more than anything in the world, but she hasn’t changed her mind.

Ethan is confused. She explains that they’ve been together since they were young. She’s never been with another man and had never expected him to be with another girl. She wants proof that no other woman will come between them. He wants to prove to Gwen that Theresa has a boyfriend. He asks her to go to the tree lighting ceremony with him the next night so she can meet Theresa with her boyfriend.

Outside of the Book Café Theresa assures Whitney that she has nothing to worry about for the next night. Ethan had told her that he has to work so he won’t show up and he won’t find out that she didn’t go with her boyfriend.

In Santa Fe Luis is furious that Martin got away again. In the hotel room Sheridan and Luis discuss their plans and Martin. Sheridan asks if he looked familiar to him. He says that it’s been a long time since he’s seen him and he now has a full beard. It’s hard to tell. Sheridan brings up the fact that Julian and Martin seemed to know each other. That’s got to mean something. They continue to discuss the past. They have a moment and both admit they think they were wrong about each other. (It’s very touching.)

Julian enters the room. Luis asks him where the hell he’s been. He says he took off because of the gunshots. He then asks for Martin and they tell him he’s gotten away. Julian tells him that he’s sure Martin is far away by now.

Outside the hotel Julian and Melvin (Julian’s nerdy henchman) discuss what they need to do to find Martin. They go to a nearby bar and find Martin sitting at the bar having a drink. Julian questions Martin. He also tells Martin again that Luis and Sheridan can not know of their connection. Martin agrees and then asks for more money. Julian tells him not to expect any more from him. Julian then tells Melvin to get Martin a new ID and to get him on a bus. He’s not to go near Harmony or Luis.

Outside the bar Martin knocks Melvin out and steals his money. Martin says it’s time for him, Martin Fitzgerald, to return to Harmony for his Christmas present.

In the basement of the church Miguel holds Charity while Kay, Reese and Simone stand behind them watching the statues moving and talking. Kay calls Sam down and the statues return to statue form. The kids tell Sam, Hank, Grace, and Father Lonigan what happened. Sam and Hank go off in search of answers. They return and explain that the floor was settling from a previous water main break causing the statues to move. Everyone seems to buy this except Charity. She says they were whispering to her and telling her to fight evil.

Father Lonigan turns toward the window and stares with his blind eyes. He quietly asks Grace if there is anyone at the windows. She turns to look and says “Oh my goodness.” The father asks if she sees someone, but she says only that it’s snowing. This concerns her because her son Noah was going on a ski trip. The kids leave and Sam tells the father that he’ll fix the crack in the floor. Father Lonigan tells him that it wasn’t the crack…he backs up Charity’s story. Something is going to happen in Harmony.

Above them Tabitha and Timmy watch through the basement windows. Timmy wants to know what’s going on. Tabitha explains and says that if they figure out that Charity is special they’ll be in trouble. She and Timmy leave just before Grace turns around to look out the window. Timmy tells Tabby he wants to go tell Santa what he wants for Christmas. This gives Tabitha another idea on how to get rid of Charity.

Tabitha tells Timmy that she’ll use the tree lighting ceremony to get rid of Charity. She just needs to assure that Charity shows up the next day. In order to assure her appearance Tabitha enlists Kay’s help by getting her interested in Santa choosing the prettiest girl to help light the tree…and that girl can choose a boy to help her. She is sure that Kay will be picked and she can then chose her beau to help her. Kay agrees. Tabitha tells her to make sure the “other” girl is there too so she can see Kay with her fellow.
