Passions 11/15/99
Sheridan and Ethan speculate, from the cottage, on the reason for a police car being in front of the mansion. Ethan thinks it’s just Sam, Sheridan thinks someone may be there to arrest her. Ethan urges her to believe it was just a nightmare. Pilar comes to the cottage and reinforces that this whole Sheridan thing was just a dream. She only had believed it because Sheridan had been so sure as a child. Sheridan is upset that Julian led her to believe there really was a murder instead of just telling her as a child that it was a dream. You can tell she doesn’t really believe it.
In the mansion Luis threatens Julian that he either talks to him about his father’s disappearance or he’ll go straight to Alistair. Backed into a corner, Julian agrees. Julian sits down and Luis tells him the story of the night before and the day of Martin’s disappearance. He’s not fazed and says that men leave their families every day. Luis asks him why his father would want to talk to Martin enough to call him at home? Julian orders Luis to leave and Luis tells him that he’s going to reopen the investigation. Julian stops in his tracks…then he tells Luis that he’s right…the Crane’s do know something and it’s time he learn the truth.
He tells Luis that he remembers the phone call Alistair made to the house all those years ago. He didn’t say anything because he was trying to protect Pilar. He explains that Alistair found money missing from the department that Martin worked in, and the next day when he was supposed to speak with Alistair about the disappearance he disappeared himself. Luis is furious and refuses to believe what Julian has told him. He pronounces his belief that his father was honorable and would never do such a thing.
Julian tells him that he can’t share proof that Martin stole money because Alistair had destroyed it to protect Pilar…she’s so important to their family. Luis just looks at Julian aghast. He refuses to believe him. Julian tells him to ask Pilar. Ask about the mortgage help…who does he think owns the bank. Not to mention the bonuses she’s been receiving since Martin left…she’ll tell him. Then he sends Luis out…his 5 minutes are up.
Ethan and Sheridan storm into the mansion and confront Julian on the reason for Luis’ visit. He refuses to say anything. Sheridan moves on to her past. She’s ready to find out for sure what happened. She look at the room that has so scared her in the past and realizes that it no longer frightens her. She then tells Julian that now that she knows the truth she’ll no longer be docile little Sheridan. So he and father had better watch out!
Julian gets on the phone with Alistair. He explains how he handled Luis. He’s tickled with himself at how clever he was. Alistair tells him that Martin was always someone that lived by the 10 commandments.
Luis returns home and tells Pilar what he’s learned from Julian. When Pilar hears that Julian called Martin a thief her jaw drops to the ground. Vehemently she denies that Martin would EVER steal money. She’s furious that Julian would say such a thing. Luis believes her and says that he’ll find his father…no matter how long it might take. Just then, the phone rings. Luis is told that the APB he put out on his father returned someone working with his social security number in Santa Fe New Mexico. Pilar is shocked…Martin had always dreamed about retiring in Santa Fe.
Luis tells Pilar that if this is true, it means Julian was right and his father was a thief.
Over at the school Simone and Kay run into Miguel after he finishes football practice. He asks Kay to wait so he can walk her home. She’s thrilled until he tells her he wants to check on Charity. Miguel comes out of the locker room and Kay tells Miguel that Eve doesn’t want anyone interrupting Charity, why don’t we go to the Book Café instead.
At the Book Café Chad and Whitney run into each other. Whitney is not thrilled, and Chad ribs her a little bit. She tells him that she’s compiling data on all of the history of Harmony going back to the pilgrims using the computer. Chad asks her if maybe she could find something about his family.
She finds no mention of the Harris family in Harmony. She then starts a search for his birth records. He tells her he was born in Los Angeles in 1980. She can not find anything. Whitney tries the surrounding counties. Just then Simone walks in and walks over to them. She is glad that Whitney is helping Chad as this must mean that Whitney is no longer mad at Chad. Chad leaves to help behind the counter for Beth and Whitney explains to Simone that she’s just helping Chad because the sooner he finds out about his family the sooner he’ll leave. Chad over hears her say this.
Whitney finds it very suspicious that she can not find out any information on Chad. Miguel returns to Kay and tells her that he is worried because he just called the house and there was no answer from Charity.
Chad is working at the counter when an elderly man named Orville walks in and places an order. Chad tells him his name and the man says he remembers that name from about 20 years ago. Chad asks him if he remembers hearing about a Chad Harris being born in Harmony? Orville is confused and says he has a bad memory. Just then Whitney comes up and mentions LA. Orville perks up, drinks some of his coffee and says he just needed to jumpstart his brain.
Charity realizes the painting in Tabitha’s house looks just like Tabby. Tabby tells her that of course the painting would look like her, it’s one of her ancestors. Charity says there is more to it and focuses on the painting. She stumbles suddenly feeling woozy. She thinks it’s the painting that’s causing her reaction. Tabitha tells Charity it’s just that she studied the puritans in school and she’s forgotten.
Tabitha has taken Timmy into the kitchen, Timmy returns to his non-doll self and takes off out the door. Tabby stops him and takes him back into the house. She tells him that Charity hasn’t come into her powers yet. They still have time…but not much. When that happens they’ll be finished.
In the other room, Charity walks out to get some air because she’s feeling dizzy, as she goes out the front door the picture starts to float again. Tabitha and Timmy return to find the picture floating in the hall. Tabby tries to catch it and it starts to fly all over the room. Tabby finally stops it on the sofa and then Charity returns. Charity is confused because she thought the painting was in the hallway when she went outside. (NO DUH!) Tabitha explains that she was trying to see how it would look there. She goes and sits in front of the painting because she’s worried about how it “upsets” Charity. She then tells Charity that she hates the painting but since it won’t get any money at auction and she does have some attachment to it, she keeps it around.
Charity stands up and starts to leave, as she does she mentions that no one knows she’s there. Just then Tabitha has pains in her heart. Charity stops and turns around. She tells Charity that she forgot to take her pills and asks her to go get them from the kitchen. Tabitha explains to Timmy that she’s going to take advantage of getting rid of Charity since no one knows she’s there…that way no one would suspect her if Charity suddenly died or disappeared. She picks up the fireplace poker and says that that should do just nicely.
