Passions 10/26/99

Kay and Simone are in the Bennett backyard where Kay is venting yet again about Charity taking over everything that Kay has or wants. Simone tries to get her to put everything into perspective by reminding Kay that Charity’s mother just died, she survived a fire, etc… Kay wants to know what Miguel could see in Charity that she doesn’t have. Simone tells Kay that she’s pretty…as pretty as Charity on the outside…but Miguel must see past that and see something in Charity. Kay asks if that means that Simone doesn’t think she’s pretty inside? Simone veers the conversation off topic and the girls decide to go find Chad so that Kay can help hook Simone up with him.

On the docks Whitney is thinking about Chad and vows to keep that boy from Simone…he’s trouble.

Kay tells Simone she thinks that Chad must be at the pool hall. She talks Simone into going down there and looking for him. Simone is a bit reticent because it’s in a bad part of town. They scam to tell their parents that each of them is eating at the other’s house as their alibi. Just as they’re leaving Whitney asks them where they think they’re going. Kay tells her they’re just renting some videos. Whitney warns Simone not to stay out late because she didn’t get any sleep last night. Kay is impatient with the lectures and fidgets as she waits for Whitney to finish.

Chad is at the pool hall working on the jukebox. He thinks back to a memory of Whitney at the Book Café. He closes up the jukebox and gets it working again. The bartender asks Chad about his story. Chad explains himself and his dreams. The conversation turns to girl and Chad says that women complicate things. Music doesn’t do that…it “lets you be who you are.” The bartender tells him that maybe he just hasn’t found the right woman.

Later at the pool hall Chad lays a bet on Pool with two other players. The other players are giving him a run for his money and Chad looks worried. Simone and Kay enter and Kay restrains Simone from rushing to his side. The bartender lets him know that the girls are there. Chad does not look happy to see them. The two players back Chad into a corner on the pool table and assume they will be he winners. They get cocky with Chad and he takes his shot sinking the 8 ball in the side pocket. Simone is thrilled that Chad’s won.

Chad buys a round of drinks and then takes Kay and Simone out of the pool hall. They head to the docks and Chad takes off to look at a speedboat. Simone asks Kay what she can do to get closer to Chad. Kay tells her to trip and fall so that he’ll take her in his arms. As Chad returns Kay helps Simone out by tripping her. Chad catches her and then Whitney appears. She accuses Chad of setting this all up. Simone tells Whitney that Chad didn’t call her she and Kay were just out. Whitney informs Chad that her parents had forbidden Simone to see Chad. Whitney threatens to tell their parents tonight for sure. Kay and Simone talk her into not telling but she makes them go home like chastised 5 year olds.

Chad starts to walk off and Whitney stops him. She tells him she’s not through with him yet. Whitney lays down the law and tells Chad to stay away from her, her sister, and her family. Chad tells her that she has to be the boss so she doesn’t have to take a look at her own life. Whitney doesn’t want to hear any of it and takes off. She stops and tells Chad she’s happy with her life. She shouts it again while she looks terribly sad.

Further down docks Simone is ranting over Whitney’s behavior. Kay tells her they’ll get her back. She also tells Simone that she thinks Chad is interested in her because he stood up for Simone. Kay tells her that soon it will be Miguel and Kay, Chad and Simone and everyone else will be jealous.

In Luis’ office Sheridan walks in with coffee for Luis and yells “OH NO!” when she spots the picture of Ethan and Theresa on the back of the newspaper Luis is reading. She goes to give Luis his coffee and trips on purpose to spill the coffee and ruin the paper. Luis is furious that she’s “done this on purpose” and storms out of the room after Sheridan denies it. After he leaves Hank tells her that he knows she did it on purpose…he wants to know why. Sheridan explains that she didn’t want Luis to see what was in the paper. Luis comes back and says he’s heading to the café to get another paper.

While he’s gone Luis instructs Sheridan to start decorating for the Halloween party. She’s worried that he’ll find the picture in the paper. Hank calls Beth at the Book café and tells her to pull all the papers and tell Luis she’s out. Sheridan and Hank start decorating the gym. She thanks him for not prying. She assures him that what he did will not hurt Luis.

At the Crane mansion Gwen is returning to give Ethan another chance. She’s sure he loves only her. Upon entering the house she sees him locked in an embrace with Theresa. With tears running down her face she tells them, sarcastically, she didn’t mean to interrupt. Ethan tries to explain that he had just caught Theresa as she fell on the stairs. Gwen doesn’t buy this and runs out of the house and speeds away in her car. Ethan makes sure that Theresa is all right and then rushes out after her.

Gwen is driving and crying as her cell phone rings. She sees it’s Ethan and refuses to pick up. Just then she hears honking behind her and knows it’s Ethan…finally she pulls to the side of the road. Ethan tries to explain and Gwen doesn’t want to hear any of it. Finally she gets out of the car and lets him try to explain. Gwen still will not have any of it. She thinks Theresa planned it to happen just as she was walking in the door. She is so jealous she can’t see straight. She tells him that she thinks Theresa has feelings for him. She informs him that she’s beginning to wonder if he has feelings for Theresa also. Gwen goes on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on about Theresa having feelings for Ethan.

Back at the docks Whitney runs into Theresa. Theresa explains the dinner for two was for Gwen and Ethan. Whitney is not surprised. Whitney again urges Theresa to give up Ethan and move on with her life. Theresa said that she almost did but now she’s sure she has a shot with Ethan. Whitney wants to know why, but Theresa doesn’t have an answer. The best she can describe is a magical moment when he caught her earlier that evening…and the comment about her “exquisite” eyes. Whitney warns Theresa again that she doesn’t want her to get hurt.

Luis joins Whitney and Theresa at the docks and tells them that he just Ethan and Gwen fighting. Theresa wants to know what they were fighting about, but Luis said he didn’t hear. She scams the location of the fight out of Luis and urges takes off to see if they’re still there.

Theresa tries to sneak up on Gwen and Ethan. She hears Ethan profess his love again for Gwen. He tells her he wants to make love to her. Gwen says no. She needs to think. Ethan urges her to come back to the house. She tells him she wants to be by herself and walks to her car. Theresa is happy to know that she’s made Gwen jealous. There’s hope!

Luis heads back to the youth center. He’s perplexed that there is no newspaper to be found in town. Hank tells him to chill…what kind of news will he miss…he is a police officer in town after all. Luis goes on and on again about Sheridan. He is anxious for Sheridan to finish her community service and get the heck out of his sight. Luis leaves after giving Sheridan a few more lashes of his tongue. Sheridan thanks Hank for helping her that night and they hug. Just then Luis walks back in, he stops and gets a wistful look on his face.
