Censor's Passions Commentary - July 05, 2004
Why didn't Julian play the Crane card when he was at the nursing home? That woman kept telling him over and over again that he couldn't see Irma.. but why didn't he just shut her up with the ONE thing that always gains a person entry anywhere in Harmony and its surroundings? The name's Crane, bubba! Deal with it! I have longed for a return to old Julian-- they have drug this thing out with Eve for so long that I no longer care if the two of them end up together. I might be crossing over to the darkside and rooting for JUVY to reunite. Wouldn't that be explosive? After all these years, all the fights and all the machinations of the two-- they realize that they DO, in fact, love each other.
Of course Jules didn't catch Liz there busting Irma out of the old folk's home.. but that is par for the course. I have absolutely no interest in this story-- I maintain my position that it is a complete waste of Marla Gibb's talent to have her playing an expletive-spewing-senile-old bag. It would be much better to see Marla maintaining Eve's mistakes, yet at the same time-- being bankrolled by Jules to sabotage Liz. Now.. THERE'S a storyline.
Pilar's anguish over Antonio's death was so emotional. KUDOS TO EVA for this stunning portrayal of agony. It was gut wrenching to watch, and I was HAPPY that Andumbo is dead. The "seizure" was a little long.. and wouldn't Pilar be hooked up to all kinds of telemetry that would let that hag of a nurse know that her stats were all WILD? Of course not, this is Passions.
Someone please tell me how that nurse didn't know who Sheridan was? The Cranes RUN Harmony-- how could she not know who Sheridan was.. and that she was married to Antonio? Such bull.
Fox saves Theresa's life-- and it was a beautiful scene-- I LOVED him when he said, "I thought we were supposed to meet in the lobby." That was priceless. Too bad we're getting a Foxney summer instead of the TheRox union that we so longed for. Theresa is supporting Foxney now? She believes THAT is why her relationship with Fox didn't work out-- because of Whitney? What a load of horse-stuff by the writers. If they were gonna push this storyline with Foxney-- they should have had Fox looking over his shoulder at Whitney every time he and Theresa were together-- BUT they didn't do that. They were working very hard at showing TheRox as the beginning of a supercouple.. and now they have flubbed that up by taking us back into time with this whole "mystery woman" crap. Such bull-- EVERYONE involved in last summer's HOT LA storyline believed that Theresa was Fox's mystery woman-- even Whitney.. because Fox told her so. Now we are to believe that EVERYONE forgot that little storyline. BLAH.. another horrid oversight by the writers.
Best part of the week-- Eva and Galen's scenes when Pilar was mourning Antonio-- it was absolutely breathtaking.. and I was SO moved by these scenes. I honestly believed they would never top Gwen's grieving scenes over Sarah (which I, even with my hatred for Gwen, thought were just PHENOMENAL).. but they have. Great job, guys!!
Worst part of the week-- Liz gets Irma out of the home.. and MORE expletives. UGH!
No RANT OF THE WEEK this week-- week was too short to bash!
Til next week,
