Grosse Pointe is Darren Star's latest foray into the nighttime soap opera playing field. Wait...I said soap opera...but isn't this really a sitcom based on a fictional sitcom? The answer is yes. Yet more than a sitcom this show has actually turned out to be what I would consider a half hour soap opera about a soap opera. 

Are you confused yet? Join the crowd. Grosse Pointe is a satirical look at the world of night time soap operas and the stars of such shows. The main characters closely resemble the stars of another Darren Star soap opera...Beverly Hills 90210. Down to the choice of a pet pig for one main character. The fun of this show is that so many of us 90210 fans are left guessing at what is real and what is fiction. How much of what went on behind the scenes are we being shown through this comedy? That is the question we'll ponder each week as we tune into this fun new show.
