After reading a column on another website for a few months and continually being disappointed in that author's lack of journalistic integrity.. I have decided to see if I can take the task on, and if everyone likes it, let me know because I would love to do it regularly..
(takes deep breath).. Here we go :)
This week takes us back to the Blue Note for the Harmony fundraiser. And everyone is dressed in their best for the evening. Theresa brings out fine gowns for everyone to wear, purchased during her "Mrs. Julian Crane" days and we all head out. Everyone at the Blue Note looked good.. with the exception of Rebecca's "30 years too late for the prom" dress, but I digress.
Whitney begins by singing the first of a few songs.. and the girl who sings for her is great!! But I think that the Passions crew should spend a little more time with the "lip-synching", since the emotion is all wrong for the actual words that are being sung.
Whitney, (who is fast becoming the queen whiner of this show) sings about lost love and we are treated to longing glances between all of the torn couples. Later, we see her crying to Chad about her mother's indiscretions.. which I am getting tired of hearing-- let's just either break the story or let it die. Whitney is projecting her lost feelings for Fox onto the situation with her mother. In my opinion, it got a little old. And then, miraculously-- Chad pulls out Ethan, Theresa and Fox's names to come up and sing with Whitney. BLAH. The song was ridiculous, and gave us no indication of the true talent that Lindsay and Eric Martsolf possess, but Whitney is supposed to be the star, so I can let that one slide.
The song draws Ethan and Theresa together, and makes Fox and Whitney relive some really ridiculous memories.. C'mon writers-- Fox and Whitney never shared ANYTHING.. why can't we see the memories of their one true kiss, that happened on Christmas Eve? Not the fantasies and one mistaken kiss in LA?
Gwen of course, blames Theresa, once again. And she and her mother take satisfaction that they are going to avenge their embarrassment by taking Theresa's son away. (Okay, who but me is sick of hearing them TALK and TALK and TALK?) Just do it already, so we can see some real storylines moving, and hopefully the catfight to end all catfights when Theresa learns Gwen's true intentions. Gwen finally decides she can't take it anymore, and goes up and inserts herself into the song to get Ethan away from Theresa.
Theresa and Fox discuss her feelings for Ethan.. and I am personally getting a little sick of Fox's hypocrisy. I love THEROX, but he needs to stop talking about "how she is still not over his half-brother", when he is still dreaming of Whitney. The writers need to have these two drop the past and just move on. Fox, you were never IN LOVE with Whitney.. and Theresa, you are too good of a woman to keep talking about a man who broke your heart and still leads you on.
Theresa comes to Gwen and apologizes for her past transgressions. She doesn't take full responsibility for everything-- but she shouldn't. The E/T/G saga has been written by all three of them.. and they all share culpability. Theresa says the she knows Gwen will be a good mom, and shares her feelings that she is happy that someone as "good" as her is helping to be an influence on her son at the Crane Mansion.. but Gwen ruins ANOTHER good moment.. by twisting Theresa's intentions and once again, showing how classless she truly is by telling Ethan they should get Theresa to write a recommendation for them as adoptive parents.. when she knows that she wants that for selfish reasons.. so they can take little Ethan away from Theresa with Theresa's endorsement. (or at least that is how it would work in Gwen's twisted mind)
Grace and Sam come this close to talking and possibly reconciling.. but Ivy is at it again.. and keeps the two apart, and Grace decides to leave Harmony and go to Italy with David for a photo assignment, because she believes that "her life is over".. That is just what I would want to hear from someone that I was in love with. "Sure, honey- I'll go with you, because NOTHING else in my life is going right.. so you'll do for NOW!" This is a complete waste of the potential for David's character and the writers should really rethink his direction.
Julian and Eve spend the entire evening dancing and stealing kisses outside the Blue Note. I am really getting sick of Eve. She is completely leading Julian on. And it is really starting to grate on my nerves. Julian has sacrificed himself time and time again for his lady love.. but Eve is so afraid of her past that she just can't let it be exposed. Julian asks Eve to run away with him.. she gleefully agrees, and then changes her mind. We see a sliver of the old Julian as he tries to force her to go with him, which TC witnesses, and proceeds ONCE AGAIN to beat the tar out of Julian.
