SOAPnet announced that it will air tomorrow night's Hope for Haiti Now telethon at 8 p.m. (7 Central). SOAPnet joins 25 other cable networks in airing the two-hour celebrity telethon, which is being organized by George Clooney and MTV. Proceeds will benefit several charities that are providing desperately-needed medical supplies, food, water and assistance to people devastated by last week's earthquake.
Over the last several days, soap stars have come together in Los Angeles to raise money for the relief effort. Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis, GH), Alison Sweeney (Sami, Days), Sarah Brown (Sandy, B&B) and Molly Burnett (Melanie, Days) joined several other stars to help the Red Cross raise more than $100,000 at the Rose Bowl. Alberta Wub of the Wub Tub blog was there for the event and posted a few photos. Meanwhile, Daphnee Duplaix (Rachel, OLTL) participated in Strength Through Unity: A Haitian Benefit Relief, and Ashlee Holland (ex-Crystal, Days) organized a Basic Needs drive, collecting shoes, socks, hiking boots, clothing, boxed food and more for the devastated city of Port-Au-Prince.
Daytime stars have a long history of often-unheralded charitable work, so it's no surprise to so many of them pitching in to help in this unprecedented crisis. We can all help. Charity Navigator has a special section on the Haiti earthquake with background and links to organizations working to provide assistance.

We went to the Rose Bowl drive-up donation and soap opera star Sarah Brown came on up to our car and gave me a big kiss and thank you. It’s very heartwarming to know that there is such goodness in the world.
That’s awesome, Carla! Kudos to you for taking donations, too. There is so much need. I plan to watch the telethon tomorrow — reminds me of the one after 9/11. So great to see the soaps community coming together like this right now.
Ha! never met a trillionair who didn’t give a dime to the little people.
Kudos to the soapies.
CNN reports: ‘Hope for Haiti’ telethon has raised $58 million and counting, organizers say.
Doctors Without Borders needs help. Please donate for Haiti.
I watched on SoapNet to show the soap fans’ support for the people of Haiti. I haven’t seen anywhere reporting on the ratings for the telethon on SoapNet, but I hope we got a good crowd.
