Big 'All My Children' Stars Get Hit with Pay Cuts
In a recent article published in Advertising Age, Agnes Nixon, an ABC Daytime Consultant, confirmed that some of All My Children's heavy hitters - including Susan Lucci (Erica), Michael E. Knight (Tad) and Ray MacDonnell (Joe) - have been asked to take a pay cut.
While it's no secret there is a definite budget crunch all across daytime, some of the actors can't help but take this request personally. They shouldn't, of course, because as we've seen over at Days of Our Lives, there are many veteran actors in the same boat (or worse).
I hate to see our beloved genre being affected by these tough economic times, but I stand up and applaud all those actors who are dealing with this like professionals and are willing to endure a cut in pay for the love of their jobs and their craft. Bravo, daytimers, and here's to hoping for better times ahead!

I think the way TPTB are going about “cost-saving” is wrong, JMO. This is just one more thing that proves how out of touch they are with their audience. They don’t have a clue, and it’s becoming more and more obvious as time goes by. It’s no wonder the ratings are circling the drain!
Slightly OT: What has happened to the AMC Fan pages? I can get to OLTL and GH pages, but not AMC. Has the budget-cutting affected them too? Why can’t I find them?
Hi Vicky,
Thanks for weighing in. Wouldn’t it be fun if we, the fans, had a crack at holding TPTB spot for a while?!? Oh, the stories we’d create (and the characters we’d use!)
To answer your question about the AMC fan page, you’ll be able to chat about anything AMC-related here at the Soaps site for now. I’ll keep you up to date on any new developments. Of course, you can also visit the still-active AMC fan forum by following this link: http://forums.about.com/n/pfx/forum.aspx?webtag=ab-allmychldrn
Thanks!
