Y&R Casting Shocker: Don Diamont is Out!
Just as it seemed one-time lovers Brad and Sharon may be getting a second go-around on The Young and the Restless, Soap Opera Digest gives us word that the actor who originated the role of Brad in 1985, Don Diamont, is headed off the show!
For now, Y&R is not commenting on the pending departure, but a set-side source says that it is indeed a go. Details surrounding how the character will be written out of Genoa City are also being kept quiet.
Sketchy as he is, I really love the character of Brad Carlton. There's no question he's had some story lulls here and there, but overall, I feel like his character has plenty of good guy/bad guy potential. I will definitely be sad to see him go.
As more details come forth, I'll be sure to keep you posted. Until then, let us know what you think of this new development.

Good, I hope he takes Phyllis with him.
Just when it was getting interesting with Sharon trying to run to Nick and Phyliss interviening but what would the storyline be without all of the evil ones getting away with their plans.
Although I think a reunion of Brad and Sharon would be a good turn of events, I won’t miss the character. When Y&R was doing some money saving house cleaning a couple of years ago they should have let him go rather than Eileen Davidson.
The character of Phylis has grown on me regardless of the fact that she’s done some pretty dicey things in her history. The sole reason that I’ve allowed myself to like her is because I think Michelle Stafford is a really good actress.
I saw it coming for a while; that’s the way soaps are these days.
I would hate to see Don Diamont out of the show. Ashley is back and and they share a child even if Victor is the father. Old time viewers like old time actors and it gives the show some consistancy. I appreciated the fact that you gave Jerry Douglas and Jeanne Cooper some variation in their roles and it has shown off their superb acting talents. Be careful about putting Jack in a hole where he can’t get out like what happened to the role of John Abbot.
I would rather Ashley go then Brad..He keeps it interesting..Ashley is boreing.
I like one of the previous comments, Good and take Phyllis with him. Brad had become a real dog with women. That’s all he did, if a female walked by he was like some teenage boy.
I am a fan of Sharon and Nick and I hope they get back together! It’s time for Phyllis to get her due!

NO, NO, NO!!! Get rid of someone else like Gloria or Jeffery or her stupid son Kevin - anyone - but leave Brad alone!! He’s the “hottest” thing on that show!!
Sad to see him go as well but they have not given him anything to bite on in a while ..I say let him run away with Olivia , who is back minding eveyone elses’ business…….how about Jack , he is despicable….a sex addict..come on , it would not be any worse than to tell her the truth…….and those faces he makes…hello get a new look and they just used that line on B&B…and they killed off PHoebe today so maybe that is what they are doing with Brad…I say let Tracey be come widowed and have him goto NYC to help her out….

Hate to see old Brd go, but if he does i want to phyllis with him. some seem to think that she and nick are so hot, but have they forgot that she tried to kill paul and christine? that she is no better than sharon when both of them had affairs. i just really hpe that brad finds out that the child nick tinks is his is really jack’s. i wonder when this storyline will be told. but some are right , i wish they would get rid of ashley and victoria.
SEND HIM TO BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL, HE CAN GIVE RATBOY RIDGE A RUN FOR HIS MONEY AND LET HIM KNOW THAT HE ISN’T THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS SEX APPEAL. BRAD’S SEX APPEAL IS A THOUSAND TIMES BETTER THAN RIDGE’S AND IN THE LOOKS DEPARTMENT BRAD WINS HANDS DOWN.
The person who said Ashley should go and not Brad is pain NUTS!! She should never have left the show in the first place. Nick and Sharon belong together…Let Phylis and Jack get together again
The writers for Y & R need to be fired. I am certain that the BS Cane/Chloe storyline has made their ratings fall significantly! Now this. They can’t hold on the any of the good ol’skool folks. Drew was a tragic loss…although Brad has always been a shady character….it’s characters like him that keep the soaps going. Not these Captain Save A HO dudes like Cane! I am officially OFF the Y&R bandwagon!
brad needs a good storyline, why not get rid of AMBER! I hated her on B&B and she brings nothing to Y&R why is she still around. Put Nick & Sharon back together, have Victor destroy Jack once and for all and adam and heather.
NO - PLEASE - NO. He has been such a wonderful adversary for Victor nad Jack - come on now writers, I am sure you can “find” the money - we loyal fans have suffered through everything you have thrown at us but “Brad” keeps everyone on their toes because he is such a wild card. Maybe the writers should be fired for not being able to come up with something for him. And on that note, please quit with the unraveling of “Phyllis” regarding the kiss - SHE preyed on “Nick” while he was still married and it is just time for her to get her karma. Besides her being weak and emotional is not suitable for her character. Also, the “Neil/Karen” thing? Zzzzzzzzzz…
I wanted to see him fire up with Sharon. They would have made a perfect team and could have heated up the screen. I guess they are kicking him out so she can mess up Nick and Phyllis. Maybe old smilin Jack will get out of his last ditch and Sharon stay with him. Keep her away from Nick !!
HAM says that the writing out Brad Carlton is very sad and I do not understand why? He is a lot better actor than few of the male actors on the show. What have u planned for Sharon? Are u bringing in a new character as am really tired of putting past couples back together as is BORING!! We need some more excitement instead of the viewers who have a;ready figured out the future story lines.

I absolutely hate to see Brad go. Now who will that evil little troll of a woman Phyllis run to now. Sharon my friends are not a threat to the idiot it is nothing more than her conscience that is eating away at her after she had her roll in the hay and I do mean that literally with Nick while still married to Sharon, and I could care less that their marriage was already on the rocks, he was still he husband, period, point blank. She made it her business to send credit card reciepts with detailed info sent to Sharon while having dinner with Jack, now maybe I’m confused but if you were afraid of losing your marriage why break up the marriage of the individual that freightens you? Stupid! That’s why I hate to see Brad go he is about the only one, besides Dru who the writers also wrote off the show who gives Phyllis the fight of a lifetime.
