Kim Zimmer Turning Out the 'Light'?
Soap boards everywhere are a buzz right now with the rumor that Guiding Light's Kim Zimmer (Reva) has been fired due to a letter she posted on her fan club message board. The letter addresses the fact that Zimmer has been given very little screen time, in fact she's not even working the number of days that are contractually guaranteed. In part she says, "I have no idea what this regime is doing!" All I know is that for the first time in my history on this show I am way under my guaranteed number of shows. I don't understand why they would rather pay a character (actor) with such history and connection to what was Guiding Light to not work, than to work said actor their negotiated number of shows a week. But then I'm not the executive director nor am I the "suit" at P & G who has to put up the money (free money) to an under worked actor."
The rumors of her firing are only that. They have not been confirmed at this time. I'm hopeful that Zimmer's Reva will remain on the canvas at Guiding Light for many years to come. The show has made some strides this year to turn things around and revitalize the soap. Many fans are still unhappy with those changes and this is not a great time for the show to be losing any more of its staple cast members, especially cast members that are long-time fan favorites.

Update: I've been contacted by the webmistress of the Kim Zimmer Fan Club and she directed me to Zimmer's direct response to the rumors. According to Zimmer, she still has more than a year left on her contract and she has not quit, nor has she been fired. This is good news for GL fans everywhere! Thanks go out to Shelli for sharing the good news.

I have watched Guiding Light for nearly forty years. I have been very disappointed in the direction the show has been going ever since Grant Alexander left. I have hung in there because I adore Kim Zimmer, but if she goes that will be the last straw for me. I will be going with her. I was not pleased with the departure of Ricky Paul (Gus), what is up with CBS are they trying to completely sink their shows? They sure are letting the backbones of what has made them so great get away.
I love Reva and hate that they separated her and Josh. I would really hate to see her leave the show.
I love the new Springfield, with the outdoor
scenes etc. That makes it more real. I am
surprised, but I really like Reva and Jeffrey
together. They are two off-the-wall people
who complimaent each other. I was never a Ricky Paul Golden fan, so I don’t miss him,
but I don’t care much for Cyrus, either.
I miss Dinah and Mallet and Phil Alexander,
too. I wish they’d bring him back.
If Kim Zimmer left, for whatever reason, it would be a travesty!!
Need to see more of Reva, & Jeffrey. And how about incorporating some of Bradley Coles music into the show again! That was a hoot, I miss that.
